This is the latest baby blanket that I finished. It is for a friend at church. The name of the color of yarn was "Little Britches" and the brand was "Baby Bee." The yarn was on clearance at Hobby Lobby, so I'm not sure if Baby Bee is still making that color or not. There was just enough to finish the baby blanket, so I was happy. The yarn is so soft and cozy, I would love to have a blanket made of it for myself. It is thin yarn though and requires a smaller crochet hook, so that would probably be a lot of work. I'll just let the baby be cozy in it. :-)

My newest project is this afghan - zebra colors with hot pink border. It is for a special friend, Allison. I wasn't able to get a good picture because the lighting was not very good. The afghan is about 6 foot by 6 foot. To get the variegated effect, I used both black and white yarn at the same time. This made for a strong and sturdy afghan. The stitch used is V stitch. V stitch is my favorite stitch because it is so easy and fast. Total weight is probably about 7 pounds. In all, the afghan required about 14 to 16 skeins (including the 2 pink skeins for the border). It was so fun to make and such a joy to give away!
Ooops! This post is a couple weeks late. But I did get the project finished. It just didn't quite come out how I wanted it. There were supposed to be two flowers at the bottom of the afghan and one at the top, as well as one on each corner. However, I didn't measure quite right, so the flowers at the bottom are not in line across from each other. Otherwise it came OK. I was a little sad though because it was made especially for someone. Maybe I'll just ask her if she wants more flowers on it and where she wants me to place them. The afghan is about 60" wide by 72" long and is made of Caron Simply Soft Snow Sparkle yarn. The stitch used in the main part was the V stitch. For the border, I made two rows of half double crochet and then finished off with a row of pineapple stitch. Here is a closer up look at the border and the flowers. I've been working on a project for several months, and now I'm almost done. Can you guess what it is? Stay tuned! I hope to finish it before the end of next week. Have finally finished another crocheted project - a baby blanket. The colors used in this blanket are Turquoise and Amethyst. Yarn is Red Heart Yarn. The stitch used is a modified shell stitch. There is a shell stitch border in Amethyst. For the shell stitch, I did 2 half double crochet, chain one, two half double crochet. This blanket was fun to make. Why not make one yourself? Or head on over to our Joyful Hearts Shop where it is available for purchase. Price is $20.00.
Here is the first crocheted vest I have made. It is made with microspun yarn and is nice and soft. The stitch is half double crochet, chain one and skip a stitch, half double crochet - repeated throughout. I didn't use a pattern for this but tried to follow a vest I already had and make it the same size and shape. It came out pretty good but is too small for me, so it is up for sale. Check it out in our shop! The other day I learned how to make these fun little scrubbies. They can be made from acrylic yarn or from cotton yarn. The ones in the picture on the left are made from Lily® Sugar’n Cream® 100% cotton yarn. The ones in the picture on the right are made from acrylic yarn. These scrubbies are easy to make and quite cute.
The cotton scrubbies are nice to use in the bath – either for adults or infants. The acrylic ones work great for cleaning or for washing dishes. Here is a link to a youtube video that shows how to make them if you want to make some for yourself. If you are not into crochet but would still like some, hop on over to our “shop” and get a set for yourself or a friend. All the proceeds from sales on these scrubbies during the month of December will go to the Coffeys’ medical expenses. Here is my newest project - a brown hat and scarf set. The stitches are the same ones used in the 21 Forever scarf pattern that can be found here at FaveCrafts. I used the same stitches to make the hat. The next project I'm working on is a baby blanket using this stitch. It really makes a neat pattern. What would you like to make with this stitch? If you would like to buy the hat and scarf, it is available over on our Joyful Hearts Variety page under "Handmade Items." Just hop on over and order it! Here is my latest crochet project. I used a pattern from FaveCrafts, a site with lots of great craft ideas. However, I'm not very good at reading patterns so ended up taking it out and redoing it three times. Also had to adjust the pattern a little because I tend to make tight stitches. The finished hat is newborn size and only takes about 2 or 3 ounces of yarn. That means it is possible to make several hats from one skein of yarn. Even though it had to be redone several times, the finished project came out pretty good, and it's cute! Want one? It's available on our store page. Hop on over and order one! |
